It's sometimes a crazy experience watching friends you've known for years and years have their first child. I've known Mary and Kurtis since college so I've partied with them, watched them get married, shared meals, experienced all of us moving to New York City and shared loads of conversations with them. Yet there's nothing quite so special as watching them take their first steps into parenthood.
Mary and Kurtis invited me up to their beautiful Washington Heights apartment about a week after Aurora was born. We spent a few hours enjoying the new routines in their lives and spending lots of time just staring at their sweet little nugget. I love photographing lifestyle sessions for families like this. It captures what their days feel like at this unique moment in time and preserve those feelings to remember as their families change and grow. Though Mary and Kurtis are still the same ol' wonderful people, there was something a bit more tender about them both. What a gift to be able to be there for this occasion in their lives.
I can't wait to watch as Aurora grows up in New York City with her creative, loving parents. I can't wait for the continued shared experiences with these dear friends as our lives go on. Mary and Kurtis, thank you so much for your friendship, for your support, and for introducing me to your newest little gift, Aurora.
