New York City in the fall is about as perfect as it can get—unless it’s a wedding in the fall in NYC where we also get to spend some time in Central Park!
For weeks you haven't been able to hit a wedding blog/inspo site without seeing updates from the royal wedding of Meghan and Harry. If you happen to be planning your own wedding you may be feeling a little jealous/in awe/inspired by the whole extravaganza. And even if you won't be changing your title to Duke or Duchess after 'I do" you can still get the royal wedding planning experience with the following tips.
Wedding Day Formals are the unsung heroes of your wedding photos gallery. Though my clients love how I capture the candid and informal moments throughout their days, the posed family and wedding party portraits are actually some of the most printed/shared/and loved images from any wedding. Formal portraits are lightly posed groupings of your loved ones all looking at the camera (and hopefully smiling and not blinking ;) ).
Mary and Jamiyl have been together for what feels like forever. This isn't a diss on how old their relationship is but a testament to how right they feel together. When you meet them side by side you know that there is a special bond between them that feels ageless and wonderful. I felt so blessed to be beside them as they took the leap to the next stage of their lives together in Washington DC last fall.
The rain may have delayed the ceremony a bit and made for a humid start to their day, but it couldn't take away from the oodles of love and joy that exploded from every moment of Erica and Mike's wedding day in Montego Bay, Jamaica. The rain eventually let up, allowing the sun to break through the clouds for what was truly one of the most glorious sunsets any of us had ever experienced.
In life I’m a planner and a list maker. I don’t do any job, take any trip or throw a dinner party without sitting down and working through the details in list after list (flight and hotel information, menus, timeline for cooking, who has what allergies, etc. etc.). I’ve found that even when (especially when!!) I want something to feel laid back and fun I need to consider these plans beforehand because when you go into anything well prepared and well thought out it’s so much easier to relax and enjoy the experience. Your wedding day is exactly the same. If you set up a schedule that accurately allows time needed for each task and builds in some cushion here and there you are way more likely to have a day that is stress free and fun, even if things run behind a bit or something unexpected comes up.
When I met Nicole she was in the midst of planning not one, but three different weddings. She and Rohan were so excited for the big day they wanted to do it again and again. :) Actually they were having a big wedding in India planned with a lot of help from Rohan's family in August. Leading up to this they wanted to make it official with a city hall elopement first and then following it was a celebration at Battery Gardens in New York City for friends and family who couldn't make the trek to India the first time around.
As soon as I met Amy and Ted I felt a connection. They met, as my husband and I did, through their theatre department in college. They moved first to San Francisco and then to New York City together, building their adult lives hand-in-hand. When they decided to get married they didn’t want to have to follow all of the traditional tropes and traditions that society seems to dictate. Amy and Ted wanted a chill and relaxing event with their families and friends, which is exactly what they had.
As the curtain went up on the tour of "Mama Mia" there was a full audience, a lot of energy on the stage, and two lovely folks meeting in the wings. Jennifer and Eric's friendship began right there, with the songs of Abba surrounding them. After multiple shows, tours, and adventures Jen and Eric got married steps away from Times Square and Broadway. Despite the location and though they are both part of the showbiz industry their wedding was simple and intimate, taking place on a greenery-laden private terrace. Their close family and friends (and adorable dog ring-bearer Betty White) joined them to celebrate on the beautiful New York City fall evening.
