When I heard that there would be a 5-piece yacht rock band performing at Laura and Daryll’s wedding reception I knew I was in for an awesome night. Their rocking Haven’s Kitchen wedding did not disappoint.
We started off the day at Hilton Fashion District Hotel where Laura was getting ready with a few members of her family and a couple of friends. I was amazed by how calm and cool Laura was and remained throughout the whole day. In fact, both she and Daryll were more laid back than just about any couple I’ve ever worked with.
After Laura’s hair and make-up was complete and her Rebecca Schoneveld dress was donned we headed over to Haven’s Kitchen for the first look and a few portraits. This was followed by their lovely, totally intimate ceremony with just their immediate family members, performed by a dear friend. As a surprise to the couple their officiant Roger had re-written the words to ‘Livin’ on a Prayer’ to tell their love story, sung by their family before their vows. Even the littlest guests (Laura’s niece and nephew) got in on the fun.
After the ceremony we all headed upstairs to the third floor of Haven’s Kitchen for the reception. The rounds of food prepared by the HK chefs such as oysters with a black pepper mignonette, skirt steak with romesco and seafood paella were delicious and the cocktails designed specifically for Laura and Daryll (like the Masthead with rum and sparkling cider and the Nor’easter a twist on the Moscow Mule) were a huge hit.
Soon Three Sheets to the Wind took the stage and got the dancing going strong. They kept the energy high throughout the night. The groom even jumped into the action as he rocked out with the band for a few songs.
Laura and Daryll are warm and fun and I felt so grateful to share their wedding day with them. Thank you both so much for letting me be a part of this day!
