I believe connection is the centerpiece to your wedding.

The best part of my job is watching you interact:

How you two love each other. Watching your friend groups meet for the first time. And catching your grandma tearing up the dance floor alongside your college roommate. The unique energy that you bring to the table is my creative inspiration.

I picked up photography when I was 9 years old.

I was growing up in Kansas and chose it for one of my 4-H projects because I had always loved the story-driven photojournalism I’d seen in old magazines. Those photos showed me a world outside of my small town experience and took me on a journey into other lives and other worlds. So I’ve always tried to capture the heart of a story in my work.

Later on, I took a few other paths through theater and food service, but the camera was never far from my hand. I loved photographing my friends at work and play, and capturing the candid moments of life.

This creative spark eventually compelled me to begin my business.

Now, as a wedding photographer, my main goal is for you to feel fully present in your day.

So I prioritize natural and candid images over direction and perfection. My favorite photos aren’t staged and polished: they are the ones that show you fully invested in the joy of a moment, flyaway hairs and askew tie be damned.

When I’m not photographing weddings, I love to cook and host dinner parties.

The beach is my happy place, especially with a good book. I spend a ton of time hanging with my partner, Joe. We met as college theater majors in Kansas, but moved to Brooklyn 19 years ago. Together we love to travel, see plays and movies, and wander around NYC, coffee in hand.

Sarah is not only an incredibly talented photographer, but she is also an incredible person. I truly could not imagine my wedding without her.

By the end Sarah absolutely felt like family to us. I am camera shy but she got me out of my shell and the photos really show it. Every time I felt nervous I just had to look at her and she made me calm. She completely captured the joy and love in the room in a way I didn’t think was possible.
